Overview of Night Coverage Instructions
We all know one of the cornerstones of an effective handoff is the ability to communicate contingency plans or “what-if’s”. Smart Sign Out provides a dedicated section on the handoff document where users can communicate possible issues and what to do if this issue were to occur. Users are instructed to identify potential problems and communicate clear if/then instructions and plans to the next shift.
The instructions entered into the Night Coverage tab are then displayed prominently on the handoff document in its own section with a clear headline. Not only does this ensure that the next shift receives explicit instructions, but also that the person handing off takes the time to think about and anticipate possible issues that may arise.
